SWGB were extremely surprised to find online a Freedom of Information from 2021, which contained this question and answer to the Tandridge District Council Housing department.

‘’The Council operates a Housing Register rather than a waiting list. As a result, many households not considered to have a significant housing need are likely to have been on the register for many years.”

With regards to household that has been on the list the longest, how long have they been on the list?

“The household that has been on the Housing Register the longest has a registration date of 21/2/1961.’’

SWGB will be investigating this because it puts into question when our councillors and developers use our Housing Register as a reason to build all over our Green Belt. We are aware that around 26% of those on the Housing Register have no connection to Tandridge District or earn too much to be offered a dwelling.

Flooding at the John Fisher site after heavy rainfall.

Last weekend due to the heavy rain there was flooding at the John Fisher development site, where muddy water was pouring onto the Limpsfield Road.

This has been reported to Tandridge District Council since Condition 17 of the Appeal decision requires Cala Homes to submit details on how they will manage surface water during the construction. We have been assured that steps are being taken to make Cala Homes abide by this.

Meanwhile Bridleway ‘88’ has a sign by Surrey County Council saying it’s ‘closed’, when clearly it is still open. SWGB has written to SCC Countryside Officer to request minimal disruption to this well used bridleway and they have responded to say they will contact the developer.
