About SWGB
Save Warlingham’s Green Belt formed in 2016 and was formally constituted in 2022. We currently have over 1,200 members but please join and encourage others as we are stronger together.
Chairman, Angela Hall, I have lived in Warlingham since I was 2 years old, apart from a short period in Purley and Caterham. I went to school in Warlingham and I work in Warlingham.
After Sarah Johnson and I successfully stopped the relocation of Warlingham Village Primary school, I knew the fight was not over there. By learning about the scale of the potential developments in our beautiful village and the loss of designated Green Belt, I knew something had to be done, even if the task seemed impossible. Sarah and I come as a double act!
I met Lisa Dunning many times at Parish Council meetings and realised her knowledge of Warlingham and the bridleways/footpaths would be invaluable. Liz Wallace persisted in contacting me and eventually we met and I’m so pleased we did and I contacted Lauren as I had heard what an amazing Campaign she had headed to stop a crematorium being built in Farleigh and begged her for advice. James approached me, offering his IT skills, which has been essential in all our areas of the campaign.
Vice Chairman, Lauren Gates, I’ve lived in Farleigh/Warlingham all my life and went to school here. I became involved in SWGB after fighting against an inappropriate planning application to build a crematorium in Farleigh, which we defeated at Appeal in 2022. Warlingham, Chelsham and Farleigh are up against the Greater London boundary so it’s important we retain our Countryside for both sides of the border. I have been appalled at the decision making for the draft Local Plan 2033.
Secretary, Elizabeth Wallace, local resident of Warlingham for 46 years and became involved in SWGB because I believe our Green Belt is even more important now than when it was created. When it’s gone it’s gone- there’s no getting it back!
Treasurer, Sarah Johnson, local resident of Warlingham since 2015, but my husband was brought up here. I joined because Angela and I had been successful in saving Warlingham Village Primary School and we thought we could, and should, continue to fight for our precious green spaces.
Social Media and Tech Specialist, James Treacher, I’ve lived in Warlingham for close to four years, moving from London to be closer to family during the pandemic. I grew up close by in Biggin Hill and have spent my childhood in Warlingham and surrounding areas. I joined SWGB as I wanted to help drive awareness of local planning issues and disseminate information about the development of Warlingham’s Green Belt.
Lisa Dunning, I first moved to Warlingham as a school girl in 1960 and I have lived here for over fifty years in all. Having followed with great concern the progress of Tandridge District Council’s flawed Local Plan, I joined SWGB to do all I could to retain the character of Warlingham as I remembered it and to protect its precious areas of Green Belt.

I have lived in Warlingham practically all my life, born in Hamsey Green then moving to Warlingham in 1966. I went to Warlingham School.
For a few years I lived in Kingswood Lodge which backs onto Farleigh when I got married in the late seventies. My Wife was born in Warlingham, her parents moving here 70 years ago. It was at The Lodge that I had my first battle with planners and the potential threats to the Greenbelt which we won.
I met Lauren earlier this year and immediately commenced advising SWGB with my knowledge and expertise, particularly concerning Warlingham, Chelsham and Farleigh’s creaking infrastructure and flood risks which are increasingly prevalent. I am passionate about our Greenbelt but have seen the change in Warlingham and the surrounding areas, from the quiet village we grew up in, to what it is becoming and threatened with. The appalling decisions made in the evidence base in the flawed Local Plan must be urgently changed.
